Replacement Engine Oil pressure switch Sensor Sending Unit for BMW 5 Series, E28 E39 E60 E61 M5 12617620512 This oil pressure switch/sensor is responsible for monitoring the oil pump and lubrication system. It function is to makes sure the lubrication system is working properly. It detects if the pump functions with anomaly or relief valves are stuck open, senses if there is insufficient oil, and provides inputs that determine the useful life of the oil. If the parameters are not within the manufactures specifications it will notify the driver, you with red oil light on the dash.
